Skinny 4to. Numerous illustrations in color and sepia after Fedor Flinzer. (Marginal toning.) Original cloth-backed pictorial boards printed in various colors (light soiling and spotting to covers, some wear to fore-corners).

Second edition, first published in 1891 in a punch-out form and with different cover illustration. Fedor Flinzer (1832-1911) was a German illustrator, writer, and educator, often referred to as the "father of the German picture book." He is known for his whimsical and detailed illustrations for Struwwelpeter, which brought its cautionary tales to life, RARE: We located only five copies in institutions, with just one being in the U.S.
